A 35-year-old man died after a suspected shark attack while spearfishing off Michaelmas Island in Western Australia on Saturday, local authorities said. The diver was with family when he was bitten at about 11:25 a.m. local time southeast of Perth. He was brought to shore by boat, where paramedics tried to revive him but could not save him. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said it was assisting police and local authorities and urged residents to report shark sightings. The death came less than a month after another fatal shark attack in Western Australia, when 38-year-old Steven Mattaboni was killed near Rottnest Island.
