3 Secret Service officials put on leave in misconduct probe

What's new: The agency said the three worked in non-law-enforcement roles, and the reason for the investigation has not been disclosed.

Three U.S. Secret Service officials were placed on administrative leave Tuesday as the agency opened a misconduct investigation through its professional standards office. The Secret Service said the employees worked in non-law-enforcement capacities, but it did not explain what conduct triggered the review. The move adds to scrutiny of the agency during a period of heightened concern around presidential security. President Donald Trump has faced at least three assassination plots in the past two years, and the agency has been drawn into several recent controversies, including security concerns tied to a Qatari-gifted Air Force One and a separate investigation involving an agent on Vice President JD Vance's detail over alleged leaks.
