3 Prabowo wiretapping suspects face up to 10 years in prison

What's new: Police said the suspects allegedly tapped the president and other figures from 2025 to 2026 and erased electronic logs.

Indonesian police said three suspects in an alleged wiretapping case targeting President Prabowo Subianto could face prison terms of up to 10 years. Bareskrim chief Asep Safrudin said investigators charged the trio under Article 258 of the criminal code, which carries a maximum 10-year sentence, as well as other criminal code and electronic information law provisions with penalties of six and eight years. The suspects, identified as LSP, ASN and EH, were named Tuesday after what police described as an investigation into illegal interception, illegal access and deletion of electronic data. Asep said the alleged wiretaps covered the president, political figures, civil society groups, media and businesspeople.
