3 West Java police officers detained 21 days after HI guard intimidation

Despite a settlement, the three officers will still face an ethics hearing after being placed in a special detention unit.

West Java Police have detained three of its members for 21 days in a special holding unit after they were accused of intimidating security guard Fiktor Harefa in the Bundaran HI area of Central Jakarta. The three officers are Ipda DG, Bripka BS, and Briptu RPW. West Java Police public relations chief Hendra Rochmawan said a Propam review found sufficient evidence of an alleged violation of the Polri professional code of ethics, so the case will continue to a code ethics commission hearing. The incident began when an Alphard ran a red light at the Bundaran HI pelican crossing and was reprimanded as pedestrians were about to cross. CCTV footage of the incident later went viral. West Java Police also apologized to the victim and the public. Police said the reconciliation between the parties does not end the ethics process against the three officers.
