3.3-magnitude quake struck waters off Johor near Batu Pahat

A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck waters off Batu Pahat, Johor, at 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. The quake was located about 20 km southwest of Batu Pahat at a depth of 10 km. MetMalaysia said tremors could be felt around Batu Pahat and that it would continue monitoring the situation. Mothership reported no injuries or damage had been reported. The area has seen several recent mild quakes, including a 3.1-magnitude event on Apr. 4 and a 3.2-magnitude quake on Mar. 14. A 4.1-magnitude earthquake also hit near Segamat on Aug. 24, 2025, in a broader run of tremors in Johor.
