2026 MSME Festival opens in Balikpapan, targets 1,000 businesses

The ministry says 77 percent of MSMEs still lack legal status, so the festival will focus on permits, certification and financing.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises launched the 2026 Festival Kemudahan dan Pelindungan Usaha Mikro in Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur, on Wednesday as part of a package of legal status, certification, product protection and financing services for businesses. The festival will be held in 10 locations across Indonesia and involve about 1,000 micro businesses. MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman said the program is aimed at speeding up business formalization, because about 77 percent of MSMEs in Indonesia still do not have legal status. The services on offer include permits, business mentoring, certification, and KUR and non-KUR financing. Kalimantan Timur Governor Rudy Mas’ud said stronger legal status and the use of digital technology are important so MSMEs can move up and become more competitive.
