2026 Australian GP canceled outright, Veda loses pole start
That ends Veda's chance to race at Phillip Island before the Australian round moves to Adelaide in 2027.
The entire 2026 Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria was canceled on Sunday because heavy rain and fog reduced visibility and disrupted helicopter medical operations. Moto2 and Moto3 were canceled first, and the MotoGP main race was later scrapped after conditions failed to improve. The decision ended Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama's chance to start from pole position in Moto3. The Honda Team Asia rider had earlier become the first Indonesian to claim pole at a Grand Prix event. The cancellation also affected Mario Aji, who was set to start 12th in Moto2. Veda said he respected the race direction's decision, even though he was disappointed because this was the final season of racing at Phillip Island before the Australian GP moves to the Adelaide street circuit in 2027.
