2 helicopters collide over Rio, killing 6 aboard
What's new: Police are trying to confirm whether Oliver Tree and Argentine creator Gaspi were among the dead.
Two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning and crashed in the city’s western zone, killing all six people aboard, firefighters said. Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department said one aircraft came down in the parking lot of a car dealership, where several electric vehicles caught fire before crews put out the blaze. Authorities opened an investigation into what caused the midair collision. Police said American singer and comedian Oliver Tree appeared on a passenger list given to aviation authorities, but the victims’ bodies had not yet been identified. Argentine outlet Blender reported that content creator Gaspar Prim Díaz, known as Gaspi, was in one of the helicopters.
