16-year-old climber falls into Mount Slamet crater, body recovered
SAR team brought the victim down via the Permadi basecamp in Guci and took the body to Puskesmas Bumijawa for examination.
A joint SAR team evacuated the body of a 16-year-old climber who fell near the crater of Mount Slamet to basecamp early Wednesday. Semarang SAR Office head Budiono said the evacuation began Tuesday evening, several hours after the incident in the morning. He said the team needed about one hour to lift the victim's body from the bottom of the crater. The body was then brought down through the Permadi basecamp in Guci, Tegal regency. Upon arrival at the basecamp at around 02.15 WIB, the victim was taken to Puskesmas Bumijawa for further examination before being handed over to the family. Budiono said the weather was clear and the evacuation proceeded without problems. The victim was reported to have fallen while taking a selfie at the crater rim.
