10 trees on Jalan Riau, Bandung, cut down at night without permit
New details: the suspects allegedly arrived by truck and in uniform, while Satpol PP investigates possible violations involving city assets.
At least 10 trees on Jalan LL RE Martadinata, or Jalan Riau, Bandung, were allegedly cut down without a permit at night. The Bandung Housing and Settlement Areas Office said the five mahogany trees and five tanjung trees, about 8 to 10 meters tall, stood on the sidewalk and belonged to the Bandung city government. DPKP Bandung head Lutfhi Firdaus said the finding had been reported to Satpol PP on 3 July. According to information received by the office, the cutting was carried out using a truck by people in uniform. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan then inspected the site on 31 July. DPKP is awaiting the results of the Satpol PP investigation to trace the perpetrators and possible violations in the tree cutting.
